Most life science organisations find it necessary to review their strategy with regard to ERP systems every seven to ten years. This usually happens because the requirements of the organisation have changed or because the existing systems have evolved to a point where it is no longer easy to manage or develop them further.
At this stage, questions like the following will typically be asked:
- Do we need a new ERP system or could we just bolt on additions to our existing system?
- If we decided to invest in a new system, how much would it be likely to cost and how would we justify it?
- What would be the impact on the organisation of undertaking an ERP implementation?
- Which ERP systems might we consider?
- What are the relative strengths and weaknesses of the systems on the market?
BSM provides answers to questions like these as part of our ERP Strategy development service. We use a proven, structured approach to review the existing systems landscape and determine the best strategy for your organisation.
Tangible deliverables include:
- Jargon-free, easy-to-follow graphical representations of current and proposed future systems architecture, with intermediate stages if this is appropriate.
- A high-level project plan, showing recommended implementation phasing and timescales.
- A resource estimate to implement the plan.
- Detailed quantitative and qualitative benefits assessment.
- Outline cost estimates to implement the project plan, including cash flow forecasts.
- A PowerPoint presentation summarising all of the outputs from the review, which can be used for presenting to senior management or Board members.
Benefits include:
- BSM do not sell ERP software and offer completely independent advice.
- Moving to a new system is not always the best strategy. We will provide a completely objective viewpoint and the best possible guidance - whether this means a new ERP system or enhancing what you already have.
- BSM do not employ juniors. All of our consultants have at least 10 years of relevant experience of ERP strategy, selection and implementation.
- We have worked with all of the leading ERP products and implementation partners and can offer unique insight into the strengths and weaknesses of each.
